DUCTILITY TESTING MACHINE.

As Per IS 1208-1958; ASTM D 113 & IP 3255.

Used for determining the ductility of asphalted bitumen and fluxed native asphalt cutback bitumen and blown type bitumen.

Ductility is defined as distance in centimeter to which a standard briquette of bitumen can be stretched before the thread breaks. The briquette is stretched at a rate of 50mm/min ± 2.5mm/min at a temperature of 27°C ± 0.5°C.

The apparatus consists of a Water Bath having inner chamber made of Aluminium and fitted with heater and a circulating pump to maintain uniform temperature. Temperature is controlled by a Thermostat / Digital Temperature controller cum Indicator.

One half of the briquette moulds is fixed on a fixed plate in the water bath and other half of the briquette mould is fixed to a carrier, which slides over a rotating threaded shaft with a clutch.

The motor and gears to rotate the shaft are housed in a cabinet fixed above the other end of the water bath. A pointer is fixed to the carrier moves over a scale graduated from 0 - 100cm x 1mm fixed on the bath with "0" (Zero) of the scale towards the fixed plate side. The rotating shaft has two speeds of travel for the bracket, 50mm/min and 10mm/min, which can be selected by a clutch. Complete with three briquette moulds and one base plate, all made of brass. Suitable to operate on 230 Volts, 50 Cycles, Single phase and AC supply.
